FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s your background?

I’ve been supporting people professionally since 2003, working across coaching, mentoring and one-to-one development. In 2009 I qualified as a Person-Centred Counsellor. I am accredited with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the Centre of Excellence. My specialisms are women who have experienced domestic violence, and people living with depression. I am also the author of SNAPBACK. In everything I do, I am guided by a simple belief: baby steps matter.

Is it online or in person?

All sessions are held online over Zoom. You can work with me from home, from your office, or wherever feels safe and comfortable — you just need a device and an internet connection. Many people find this makes it easier to attend consistently, and less exposing than sitting in a waiting room.

What happens on the first call?

You book a free 30-minute conversation and pick a time that suits you — the calendar shows availability in your own time zone. I’ll send you a Zoom invitation beforehand. On the call you tell me, in your own words, what has brought you here and what you would like to be different. I’ll explain how I work and answer anything you want to ask. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to commit to.

How much does it cost?

Your first 30-minute conversation is free, and there is no obligation to book anything further. If you decide to go ahead, we will talk through fees on that call so you know exactly where you stand before committing to anything. If cost is a worry, say so — it is a normal thing to ask about and I would rather you asked than quietly decided against getting support.

What’s the difference between coaching and counselling?

They are often confused, and the right one depends on where you are. Counselling is therapeutic: we explore what has happened to you, how it has affected you, and the patterns or beliefs keeping you stuck. It helps if you are carrying emotional weight or longstanding patterns that are not serving you. You do not need a “problem” — sometimes you just need to be heard by someone who will not judge you. Coaching is forward-focused: we identify where you want to go, what is stopping you, and build a practical plan to get there. Many people benefit from one, some from both. We will work out which suits you on your free initial call.

Do you offer one-to-one sessions?

Yes. Everything I offer — coaching, counselling and bespoke work — is delivered one-to-one, so it is tailored entirely to you. You start with a free 30-minute conversation: a chance to talk about what has brought you here, what you are hoping to change, and whether we are a good fit to work together. There is no pressure and no obligation.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. I am BACP-registered, which means I follow strict confidentiality guidelines. What you share in our sessions stays between us. There is one exception: if I believe you or someone else is at immediate risk of serious harm, I am required to act. Otherwise your privacy is protected, and that confidentiality is the foundation of real work.

What if it isn’t right for me?

Then it isn’t right, and that is a perfectly good outcome of a first conversation. Counselling and coaching only work when the fit is right, and no one benefits from pretending otherwise. If I am not the right person to help you, I will say so plainly and, where I can, point you towards something that may serve you better.
